Resources for Tree Tenders

Planning a Tree Care Day?

Looking to find other Tree Tenders in your neighborhood?

This page should help you organize and get started.  If you think something is missing, would like anything added, or have any feedback for us regarding Tree Tender Resources, please contact Caitlin.

Organize Your Neighborhood Tree Tender Group

Need to find other active Tree Tenders in your area?  Check out the Forest Forums--an online community of Tree Tenders in Pittsburgh that grows each time we host a Tree Tender Course.

After finding Tree Tenders in your area, have a meeting---host a barbeque, have a wine, cheese, and trees party, go out for milkshakes.  Get to know each other in person.  But continue to use the Forums--it is the best way for the new Tree Tenders to find you.

How To Plan a Tree Care Day

Before you plan a Tree Care Day, check with Matt Erb and Friends to see if we are available to help you.  Friends of the Pittsburgh Urban Forest must have someone at your Tree Care Days in order for them to be approved by the City Forestry Division.  Also, we provide the mulch and tools for Tree Care Days---which you will definitely want to have on hand!

Once you plan a Tree Care Day, use this flyer to advertise it to the rest of your community---all are welcome to help.

Plan a Pruning Party

Friends is happy to come to your neighborhood and work with you as you learn to train young trees.  22% of the city's trees need a training prune.
