Mulch Madness Comes to an End

Each October, Tree Pittsburgh and hundreds of volunteers participate in Mulch Madness, working each weekend to get trees ready for winter.  The end of summer's weeds are pulled and fresh mulch is put around them to insulate the roots during the upcoming cold weather.  This past year, Tree Pittsburgh organized six events throughout the City of Pittsburgh with the help of over 500 volunteers. Mulch Madness helps to educate the public on the importance of weeding and mulching your tree while engaging with neighborhood residents in Pittsburgh.

A Great Volunteer Day on Mount Washington

Thank you Students Today, Leaders Forever!

On Tuesday March 13th, Tree Pittsburgh had the pleasure of partnering with Mount Washington CDC to host 45 student volunteers for conservation work on Mount Washington. This project was part of a multi-state tour organized though Students Today, Leaders Forever, which provides service opportunities for students on Spring Break.

Programs

Tree Pittsburgh works throughout the City to protect and restore the urban forest through education, advocacy, tree planting and maintenance.  Our main programs and special projects help us to achieve this mission.

Tree Tenders: Tree Tenders participate in an 8-hour educational course about urban forestry, tree planting and care, and work hard in their communities to ensure a healthy       urban forest for generations to come.

Pruning Workshop - Squirrel Hill - OPEN REGISTRATION

Calling all Tree Tenders!

Come sharpen your pruning skills with us as we work to prune trees along Albemarle St in Squirrel Hill!

Many new elm trees have been planted along Albemarle, and they're all in need of our pruning prowess to help them grow tall and true!

Be sure to dress for the weather, as we'll be pruning rain or shine (or snow!)

Tree Pittsburgh will provide all tools and safety equipment necessary to participate.

Wilkinsburg Tree Tender Course

Tree Tenders course to be offered in Wilkinsburg with Nine Mile Run Watershed Association

Have you noticed the new trees that have been popping up all over Wilkinsburg Borough? These all count towards the Wilkinsburg TreeVitalize Project: Rooted in Wilkinsburg, with a goal to plant 500 street trees by fall 2012. Trees young and old need care in order to survive and thrive, and we need your help to keep them growing for years to come.

Practice Your Pruning Skills, Saturday January 14th!

Pruning young trees is one of the most important actions you can take to help them
thrive in the built environment.  Whether in your backyard, on your front sidewalk, or in your neighborhood park, shaping young trees through proper pruning practices will help them grow healthy and strong, and prevent potential problems in the future.

This Saturday Tree Pittsburgh will be leading a Pruning Workshop on the South Side Trail where we’ll cover important lessons such as:
