So, the NHL called Tree Pittsburgh’s Executive Director one morning…
Like the many thousands in the 'Burgh, Danielle Crumrine is a huge Pittsburgh Penguins fan – so, when Paul LaCaruba, Coordinator for the NHL Green program, called her to ask if Tree Pittsburgh could partner to plant some trees to commemorate this year’s draft (hosted in Pittsburgh), the response came with great enthusiasm. Yes!
Tree Pittsburgh is excited for the opportunity to work with the NHL and the Pittsburgh Penguins to plant 30 street trees this fall nearby the Consol Energy Center. The number 30 was chosen as a way to honor the 30 professional hockey teams, and it’s a number that will surely make a positive impact for pedestrians and residents alike. Thanks to the NHL for understanding the many benefits that trees provide and gifting 30 new big beautiful trees to our city! Read more about the NHL's commitment to plant trees in Pittsburgh here.
