Trees improve water quality by slowing and filtering rain water as well as protecting aquifers and watersheds.
Oakland Tree Care Picking Up
Tree Pittsburgh had a great tree care event in Oakland this week, focusing on the new trees at the corner of Parkview Ave and the Blvd of the Allies. We had some great volunteers show up from several different groups including the University of Pittsburgh’s Student Government, Engineers for a Sustainable World, and Oakland Planning and Development’s LEADS program.
We’re off to a great start and building momentum in Oakland. As a neighborhood Oakland has applied for a number of new trees to plant during this upcoming fall season. We’re excited for them to receive new trees, and also excited to keep our tree care momentum going with so many new trees to care for!
If Oakland Tree Care interests you, another event is in the works for July, so stay tuned to our Public Events Calendar and come on out to join us!
