Arbor Day
Pittsburgh Celebrates Arbor Day
With the generous support of the Grable Foundation, Friends of the Pittsburgh Urban Forest has been celebrating Arbor Day at 8 Pittsburgh Public Elementary Schools and one Carnegie Library location each year since 2008. Arbor Day was first celebrated by Julius Sterling Morton in Nebraska in 1872. It has since become a national day for tree planting and celebrating across the United States.
